Why detox?

Most clothing labels stop at the fiber.

Much of everyday clothing is made from synthetics like polyester and nylon. Testing has found PFAS in some activewear, and synthetic fabrics shed microfibers in the wash. Even organic labels only describe the fiber — not the processing, dyes, or finished garment. The Clean Standard™ covers all of it.

The science behind The Clean Standard™

What the research says.

The Clean Standard™ exists because of what these studies found.

PFAS IN ACTIVEWEAR

Testing of yoga and athletic clothes from major brands found that more than two-thirds of sports bras and a quarter of leggings contained fluorine — a strong indicator of PFAS forever chemicals.

¹ Erica Schindler & Leah Segedie, Environmental Health News / Mamavation, 2022

Skin Absorption

PFAS skin exposure poses similar health risks to ingesting the chemicals via food or water — meaning what touches your skin is as significant as what you eat.

² Expert commentary, National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), cited in EHN / Mamavation investigation, 2022

Microplastics in Blood

Microplastics were detected in human blood samples — the first study to demonstrate direct bloodstream absorption. Synthetic clothing sheds these fibers with every wear and every wash.

³ Leslie et al., Environment International, 2022 — first peer-reviewed study detecting microplastics in human blood

Regulatory Moment

California and New York both banned PFAS in athletic wear effective January 2025. The EU is advancing sweeping restrictions under REACH. Allwear was built for this moment.

The fiber is only the beginning.

The Clean Standard™ looks at what you actually wear — materials, processing, dyes, testing, and supply chain.
